IHI
IHI is a Japanese manufacturer of turbochargers. At Restauco this page lists complete IHI turbocharger assemblies, identified by their IHI part number.
A turbo is not a part you want to guess on. Turbos that look alike can have different housings, wastegate or actuator setups, oil and coolant line positions and flange shapes. The surest way to the right IHI turbo is the part number stamped on the tag of your old unit. If the tag is gone or unreadable, send us your VIN and engine details and we will help you check it.
From the shop, after many turbo jobs: find out why the old turbo failed before you bolt on a new one. Most turbo failures start with oil: low oil, dirty oil, a restricted oil feed line or a blocked drain. Replace or flush the oil feed and drain lines, change the oil and filter, and check the intake and intercooler for debris from the old turbo. Prime the new turbo with clean oil before the first start, and let the engine idle for a moment so oil reaches the bearings.
