From the shop: replace wiper blades when they streak, skip or chatter, which in many climates means about every six months to a year. Clean the windshield before installing new blades, and check the wiper arm; a weak spring or a bent arm makes even a new blade chatter. Many vehicles use a different length on each side. If the washer does not spray, check the fluid level, the fuse and the hoses first; listen for the pump hum to tell a clogged nozzle from a dead pump. Never run the wipers on a frozen windshield.
